The Installation Technician reports to the Installation Manager,
and is located in Bellingham, MA.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Deliver, set in place and install commercial food service equipment
at customer location.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent
A minimum of 3 years practical experience covering all aspects of
foodservice equipment installation and relevant safety
programs.
A high degree of supervisory skills in order to plan, motivate and
control assigned remote labor and manage job site conditions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare for installation by discussing needs with Installation or
Project Manager, acquiring job-site contacts/phone numbers,
drawings, punch lists, needed tools and map directions
Have temporary labor and materials handling equipment set up if
needed
Check van/truck to be used for safety compliance before driving
Maintain/update Log Book
Ensure personal Health Certificate, Forklift/Lull/Scissors Lift
Certificates are
valid
Examine site conditions upon arrival and contact Installation or
Project Manager
regarding any conditions that will delay or impair installation and
take appropriate action
Record temp labor hours and turn in to the Installation Manager
Brief temp labor on OSHA safety and Company installation
requirements before
commencing work and monitor performance to ensure full compliance
at all times
Work off ladders, forklift, scissors lift, Lull and perform all
expected work by kneeling, bending, lifting, stretching.
Assist job-site subordinate with his duties as needed and ensure
installation is in full compliance with approved drawings
Make good judgment calls when problems arise and deal with owners,
general
contractor, sub-contractors professionally
Following installation, complete the Installer's Checklist
(FC.047.F) listing completed work and if applicable, detailed
requirements to fully complete the job
Trash to be disposed of at site if possible, if not, to be loaded
on truck and disposed of upon return. The assigned work area is to
be left clean
Ensure Owner/GC approve completed work and check list before
leaving job-site
Turn in vehicle key and gas card to the Installation Manager and
report any needed vehicle repairs/maintenance
Assist in the warehouse when on home site and as directed by the
Installation or
Warehouse Manager
Manage assistant labor and job-site conditions with the purpose of
having a highly motivated, adequately skilled and effective team
that will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the
installation project.
Complete installation efficiently and timely so as to minimize
costs and to provide an acceptable level of customer
satisfaction.
Promote and implement company standards, polices, safety programs
and monitor installation processes and procedures, thereby ensuring
compliance and a safer work environment as well as creating
opportunities to identify and propose methods for improvement
Interact and communicate effectively and professionally with
customers, contractors, sub-contractors at a job-site and work
closely with the installation and project manager, keeping them
appraised of progress and issues regarding service failures and
customer concerns thereby ensuring required level of service
provided and customer expectations are met
Understand all traffic laws and regulations and drive assigned
company vehicles according to all road rules, with strict adherence
to them, to ensure personal safety and safety of other road
users
At all times be in possession of a valid NC Driver's License and
immediately report any violations to Human Resources to ensure the
company's records are current and any restrictions adhered to
Handle all customers returns as per applicable work instructions
thereby ensuring expeditious return to vendor / inventory and
credit passed to customers
To actively participate in a constructive manner as a member of the
installation team in order to contribute to the success of the
business and to actively seek ways of improving efficiencies
COMPETENCIES:
Must be able to travel; work non-standard hours, nights, weekends
and/or holidays; be punctual; dependable; self-motivated; work
unsupervised and be able to organize and manage multiple
priorities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with
assigned remote labor and internal and external contacts on all
levels in a multitude of organizations.
Ability to read and interpret drawings; read and interpret safety
rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure
manuals.
Ability to accurately take dimensions and compile drawings for
trim.
Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in awkward positions.
Must troubleshoot installation related problems and take
appropriate corrective action to correct it.
Be completely proficient with all required hand tools and small
power tools necessary to accomplish assigned duties.
Must have a valid driver's license with a clear record and ability
to drive and maneuver truck in heavy traffic; back Truck in and out
of receiving dock; maneuver truck in and around tight corners,
through manufacturing areas and around high pedestrian traffic.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and to be flexible,
responding to necessary changes in a positive manner ensuring that
deadlines are met.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
variables where only limited standardization exists.
