Job Description:

We're looking for a dedicated, ambitious, well-rounded Music Producer/Recording Engineer who has the skills to take on all aspects of working at a professional recording studio.Please note: -This is NOT remote work. If you cannot travel to Smithfield, RI for a possible in-person interview, this position is not for you. Please do not apply if you do not have availability to interview in-person and begin onboarding within the next few weeks.We're located in the Providence metro area (1 hour south of Boston). We've been in business for over 11 years, and we're currently looking to hire a Producer/Recording Engineer. This role will include recording, editing, mixing, and mastering many genres of music, commonly Hip Hop/R&B, Rock, Acoustic, Indie, Folk, Pop, and more. This role will also include working on voiceovers, podcasts, audiobooks, on-location audio, creating instrumentals, audio restoration, audio for video, etc. We need someone with strong communication & organizational skills who can manage their own schedule and stay current with cutting-edge technology & techniques to achieve the best sound quality possible.Requirements:

  • Availability on weekdays and weekends, depending on the session schedule
  • Proven experience as a studio engineer
  • Strong musical ability
  • Excellent working knowledge of recording software and hardware
  • Thorough understanding of mixing consoles, microphone placement, outboard gear, MIDI, etc.
  • A great ear for EQ, dynamics, reverb, pitch correction, and all audio processing necessary to professionally mix & master
  • Pro Tools
  • Melodyne
  • Hardware routing, console software & interface routing
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and remain professional under pressure
  • Basic troubleshooting & diagnostic skills on Apple computers, DAWs, software, preamps, hardware, patchbays, etc.Helpful but not required:Photo/Video for simple content creation:
    • Basic photo skills
    • Basic video skills
    • Basic lighting skills for photo & video
    • Basic photo editing skills
    • Basic video editing skillsDuties and Responsibilities:
      • Facilitating recording sessions using hardware, software, microphones, digital audio editing, etc.
      • Editing, mixing, and mastering singles, mixtapes, albums, podcasts, voiceovers, etc. to client and/or industry standard specifications
      • Meeting with clients for studio tours and to assess requirements and specs of recordings or productions
      • Building solid, professional relationships with artists and clients
      • Ensuring the studio is clean and organized
      • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and diagnosing possible issues with studio equipment and software
      • Bouncing/exporting/importing stems, working mainly in Pro Tools (other DAWs are an option for creating instrumentals)
      • Flagging any recording and/or performace issues with source material promptly for quick replacement during sessions
      • When necessary, editing audio files to remove all unwanted noise and irregularities, using Izotope RX, etc. to clean up subpar audio
      • Demonstrating sensitivity to client needs and adjusting to new project specifications and deadlines
      • Backing up projects to offsite storage for file redundancy
      • Analyzing and resolving various work/technology related issues proactively when possible
      • Helping to manage and direct interns
      • When necessary, recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product, etc.
      • Verifying that all special production instructions have been followed prior to delivery
      • Performing other studio related duties and tasks, as assigned (capturing quick content for marketing, taking session notes, etc.)
      • Understanding the concept of LUFS and mixing/mastering/exporting to various specifications
      • Communicating promptly with clients and colleagues on a variety of platforms (calls, texts, emails, slack, etc.)
      • Monitoring quality of all audio deliverables to maintain industry-standard consistencyMust be able to demonstrate:
        • Ability to utilize advanced audio recording, editing, production, mixing, and mastering techniques
        • Ability to work independently and on own initiative (a go-getter who doesn't need constant direction)
        • Consistent work ethic (always reliable for showing up to sessions)
        • Ability to communicate complex technical information to individuals with or without technical backgrounds
        • Keen attention to detail
        • High level of proficiency with Pro Tools
        • Friendly, professional, and concise manner with clients, producers, interns, and colleagues
        • Focus on achievement (enjoys seeing challenges through to completion)
        • Ability to quickly, calmly, and creatively troubleshoot complex issues under pressure
        • Flexibility, being adaptable to new workflows and/or project direction
        • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative attitude (enjoys interacting with others and working on group projects)
        • Commitment to time management (always arrives on time or early to sessions and keeps a tight schedule)
        • Prompt communication (promptly responds to clients, collaborators, & colleagues for scheduling purposes, questions, etc.)
        • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
        • Innovative nature (willing to try unconventional methods that require creativity)
        • Enthusiasm to learn (if unfamiliar with certain skills, willing to spend time developing proficiency)
        • Creative spirit with an all-around passion for audio and musicA degree in audio engineering, music, or a related field is a plus, but recording/production/editing/mixing/mastering skills & experience with a great portfolio are most important.Thanks for your time. looking forward to hearing from you!Job Types: ContractPay: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour
