Communication Technology Services (CTS) is building a next-gen (4G & 5G) managed service business to provide enterprise customers with a turnkey Private Wireless Network (PWN) for mission critical business applications and wireless connectivity needs.

The Principal Network Engineer's role is to design and build new network architectures required to support Local Area Network (LAN), WiFi, Cellular, and Private Wireless Network (PWN). This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing LANs and Wireless Networks across the organization and as requested by our customer base. In addition, the Principal Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training.

Principal Network Engineer

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborate with department heads as well as customers to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery. Acquisition & Deployment
    • Design, deploy, maintain LANs, WiFi, Cellular, and PWNs, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, firewalls and other hardware.
    • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
    • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
    • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services. Operational Management
      • Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling internal and external customer objectives and processes.
      • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
      • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
      • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
      • Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery as needed.
      • Support the training and operational needs of the national team and the Network Operations Center in their efforts to increase our LAN, WiFi, Cellular, Private Wireless Network MMRD program. Requirements

        Knowledge & Experience
        • Proven experience and success with LAN, WiFi and Private Wireless Network design and implementation.
        • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
        • Mobile Core, RAN, Wi-Fi 6, LTE, 5G, private networks, CBRS, RAN, EPC, Virtualization, software defined networks, ORAN, NFV, MEC, OSS/BSS, MANO Experiences are Preferred
        • Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.
        • Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
        • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
        • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
        • Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
        • Strong customer service orientation.
        • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
        • Flexible for up to 30% travel to customer sites Formal Education & Certification
          • Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Engineering degree (higher preferred) and a minimum of 15 years related experience.
