Job Description:

This position reports to the Executive Vice President Chief Operating Officer of Lifespan. The Vice President of Facilities Services provides direction and leadership in attainment of the Lifespan---s mission and strategic objectives related to facilities management and services facilities design and development property management construction security food services environmental services (housekeeping and central laundry) central transport emergency and safety management and parking. Develops and manages system-wide programs to ensure optimum quality of service delivery consistent with fiscally sound practices and in consideration of the mission and values of the hospital and Lifespan system. Responsibilities:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Responsible for development of the strategic operating plan operating goals and objectives for areas of responsibility in accordance with established hospital and system strategic objectives. In collaboration with leaders ensures strategic plans are developed and implemented to support quality and patient
safety in recognition of their highest priority status for Lifespan. Functions as the key executive leader regarding facilities-related regulatory issues including but not limited to Joint Commission readiness and environment of care. Responsible for the coordination of these activities across the Lifespan system. Communicates the organizational vision to internal and external customers and constituents. Ensures fiscal responsibility through optimization of economies of scale across the system actively pursuing opportunities for inter-institutional integration and cooperation where appropriate. Manages and leads performance improvement activities monitors quality assurance in support of an integrated health care mission and key business initiatives of the hospitals and system. Provides executive leadership and overall management of assigned areas; approves new or modified policies and standards
for areas of responsibility. Ensures attainment of consistently high-quality patient care and safety and service delivery. Develops programs and services that are consistent with service delivery objectives and are carried out in effective efficient and fiscally responsible manner. Reviews approves and manages financials and human resources including determining appropriate levels of resources securing funding and evaluating actual performance against goals and standards. Develops manages and monitors operating and capital budgets. Recruits selects develops through coaching and mentoring and retains motivated and results-oriented management staff. Leads by example in encouraging employees to identify and act collaboratively on opportunities in support of the system---s mission vision and values. Provides for regular and ad hoc reports depicting operational financial management and organizational status of each area of responsibility for senior executives. Participates in quality activities that support the organization---s mission and philosophy; provides for high levels of customer service; ensures a safe and secure environment for patients visitors employees and others; develops and implements quality and process improvement activities to meet or
exceed established standards and goals. Other information:
QUALIFICATIONS-EDUCATION: A Bachelor---s degree in Engineering is required. A Master---s degree in Engineering Health Care Administration Business Administration or related field is preferred. QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE: Ten or more years of progressively more responsible management experience in an organization of similar size and complexity (healthcare strongly preferred). Experience should demonstrate highly effective management and leadership skills and the ability to conceptualize plan facilitate and manage organization restructures to optimize effective operations in a fiscally responsible manner.-- Lifespan is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
