Job Description:

-Manage & supervise HIS and transcription staff, assuring that all duties are completed timely & accurately-Provide individual and team supervision for HIS staff. Communicate with Associate Director on any outstanding issues.-Ensure the daily scanning and indexing of medical records is completed in a timely and accurate manner.-Complete yearly performance evaluations for HIS & transcription staff.- Ensure that transcription staff complete all dictation duties (psychiatric evaluations, letters etc) in a timely & accurate manner.- Monitor and document productivity for HIS & Transcription staff and provide reports to Associate Director on a monthly basis.-Train any new hires on scanning, indexing and correspondence duties, including processing Releases with a clear understanding of HIPAA requirements.- Monitor HIS staff that process Current Care and work with The Quality Institute to problem solve any related issues. --Work in cooperation with the Clinical staff around the Electronic Medical Record and any scanning needs associated with the client record.- Has a strong understanding of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2 regulations and provides guidance to -HIS staff in complying with regulations.-Reviews and updates Center policies and procedures on an annual basis-Performs quality audits on the EMR and works directly with clinical staff to make correctionsCustomer Service Duties-Maintain cooperative relationships with other employees, consumers and the public.-Effectively communicate with HIS staff, Clinical staff, and various local agencies.-Deal with co-workers regarding problems in a constructive manner.-Accept and use direction and supervision.-Benefit from constructive feedback.-Ensure no complaints received by peers, supervisor and the public.-Answer and respond to incoming phone calls and emails in a timely and efficient manner. (Standard is to answer phone within 3 rings).-Respond to questions pertaining to Health Information Services and investigate if answer is not known until resolution.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervise 5 -HIS staff and 1 -HIS Lead. Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with Center policies and applicable laws. Interview, hire, and train employees. Responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.EDUCATION and EXPERIENCEBachelors Degree in Health Information Management required. RHIA Certification preferred. - Must have strong decision-making skills and ability to work independently. Prior supervisory experience and computer experience preferred. - Excellent organizational and communication skills a must. Must be able to work independently and make accurate and timely decisions related to Health Information Services. -Department:
