Job Description:

Reduces the duplication of data, avoids data anomalies, ensures referential integrity, and simplifies data management by performing data modeling using Third Normal Form (3NF). Manages data and streams processing held in a relational database management system using SQL. Delivers practical and resilient data model designs that meet business needs and adhere to standard methodologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.

Creates scalable, flexible, and documented data models to enhance product offerings and reduce time to market.

Performs data modeling at the project and enterprise level.

Improves the overall analysis of business requirements.

Delivers well architected and efficient physical database designs that reduce design time to market.

Develops guidelines and standards for data modeling checklists and governance processes, and for cataloging and maintaining data repositories.

Collects and analyzes data and develops decision supporting software, services, or products.

Develops and supplies optimal timing, and costing, or logistics networks for programing evaluation, review, and implementation.

Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.

Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.

Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.

Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple projects supporting several corporate initiatives.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of experience translating complex data requirements into robust database designs to enable relational and data warehouse technologies to support application and reporting teams within a financial services or investment management domain.

Or, alternatively, Masters degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or one (1) year of experience translating complex data requirements into robust database designs to enable relational and data warehouse technologies to support application and reporting teams within a financial services or investment management domain.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (DE) performing data modeling -- Conceptual, Logical, Physical, 3nF and Dimensional -- of relational databases and data warehouses for sales, marketing, and technology business domain projects.

DE capturing clear definitions of data elements and producing SQL code to implement database changes using data modeling tools -- SAP PowerDesigner or Erwin.

DE creating relational and dimensional data model designs, using industry standard principles and data architecture methodologies -- 3NF and Kimball methodologies -- and trends in the financial services or investment management domain.

DE collecting and organizing metadata to support data discovery and governance using data governance tools Collibra or Alation.
