Summary:
Under the general supervision of the VP of Medical Imaging and reporting to the Director Diagnostic Imaging Information Systems coordinates Diagnostic Imaging Information Systems (DIIS) activities. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) Electronic Medicare Record (EMR) and Voice Recognition System (VR) and other miscellaneous imaging applications. Participates in the coordination and implementation of all interfaces and system upgrades. Ensures all DIIS systems meet the needs of the hospitals the physicians and the Diagnostic Imaging department. Assists in IS education with staff and providers. Monitors and coordinates activity of the Diagnostic Imaging Information Systems Administrators and Systems Analyst.-- Responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitors and coordinates the daily performance of DIIS systems for assigned area to ensure optimum utilization of automated systems. Analyze and implement I.S. workflow improvements to improve usability for staff and radiologists. Assists leadership in developing short term and long term I.S. goals for imaging. Participates in initial and continuing user orientation and training in systems functions as well as procedures specific to user needs to enter process and access information and images. Ensures efficient and appropriate use of systems. Responds to user questions regarding all DI system functionality capabilities usage limitations etc. Provides education and presentations to staff and radiologists as needed. Demonstrates use of problem solving skills to optimize and tailor systems to improve efficiency and usability of end users. Participates in the development modification and maintenance of systems to meet imaging information needs. Such information includes provider dictation patient and procedure information statistics billing codes etc. Updates defines and deactivates codes as appropriate. Ensures data tables are up-to-date and accurate. Participates in communication of changes to users in a timely manner following up to ensure appropriate procedures are followed. Participates in the design development and production of reports such as statistical data patient charges inventories and quality assurance reports to meet user needs. Participates in the development and modification of policies and procedures as they relate to the EMR PACS VR and other imaging applications for Lifespan. Participates in Lifespan---s Imaging operational meetings as needed to address develop and implement Enterprise wide systems solutions impacting imaging. Grants and maintains appropriate user privileges within DIIS systems. Performs other related duties as required. Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of baccalaureate degree in computer science or related field. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout Lifespan with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
EXPERIENCE: Two years experience in PACS/RIS administration in a diagnostic imaging department including experience with hardware and software interfaces to maintain operations preferred.
INDEPENDENT ACTION: Incumbent functions independently within a broad scope of department policies and practices; generally refers specific problems to supervisor only where clarification of department policies and procedures may be required.
