Primary Function - The Clinical Informatics Lead - FCC serves as a liaison between the FCC clinical operations, researchers, IS Clinical Applications of Care New England and databases affiliated with Care New England patient encounters (Epic, Cerner, claims, current care). The Clinical Informatics Lead (FCC) will be a team member in EPIC clinical informatics who will be embedded in Care New England's Family Care Center (FCC), a large outpatient Family Medicine clinic in Pawtucket, RI. The Clinical Informatics Lead FCC is the primary application support and contact for specific Epic application who works closely with others on the application team to coordinate all system issues that arise during the use of the application(s) by FCC staff. - The Clinical Informatics lead will be knowledgeable about the procedures, workflows, and business operations within the FCC and Care New England Medical Group. The Clinical Informatics Lead FCC has in-depth knowledge of the software and serves as a bridge between the end users and IS support teams. The Clinical Informatics Lead FCC will attend FCC leadership meetings and provide guidance and expertise to help develop appropriate databases, perform statistical analyses, and perform preliminary statistical analyses to guide leadership decisions. The Clinical Informatics Lead FCC will also assist in data collection, formatting and managing study data, and providing reports with support of the statistical programmer as needed. The Clinical Informatics Lead FCC assists with the development, implementation and continued support of research projects and performs other job-related duties. - All data requests will be performed by the Clinical Informatics Lead FCC in consultation with support of I.S. team. Problem solving between the Clinical Informatics Lead FCC, I.S., and the end-user (clinicians) will be performed as needed to produce a reliable and valid dataset for analysis through an iterative process. Data will be extracted by the appropriate I.S. team and/or Informatics Lead and stored in secure area for data cleaning and validity checking. The Clinical Informatics Lead FCC will perform data cleaning and validity checking based upon criteria determined by CNE Compliance and I.S. departments. Specifications -

  • Bachelor's Degree required preferably in Computer or Data Science, Statistics or related field with one to three years experience as a Programmer Analyst, Support Analyst, or related position, preferably in a health care and/or hospital environment.
  • Excellent analytical, written, verbal and interpersonal skills required.
  • Familiarity with a structured query language and Microsoft platforms preferred.
  • Experience in project management, presentation skills, knowledge of healthcare terminology and/or certification in Epic applications highly desirable. Application of Knowledge and Skill
    • Directs and coordinates daily activities of projects at FCC
      • Collaborates with team members to identify activities /processes to perform projects and develops effective procedures to accomplish project goals.
      • Helps problem solve barriers to projects and implements new procedures, providing training when necessary and monitors adherence to process through observation and analysis of reports.
      • Coordinates weekly team meetings and monitoring of progress.
      • Manages data collection and reporting
        • Meets with staff assigned to project to identify data needs, designs and develops an application/database/form in appropriate format to best meet the needs of the project.
        • Works with IS programmer analysts to extract data in a timely manner.
        • Instructs end-users in the use of developed databases and forms, and routinely reviews data to ensure procedures are being followed.
        • Works with statistical programmer to perform data cleaning, status reports.
        • Helps maintain data integrity and security insuring regular backups and storage are provided by I.S.
        • Provides administrative support
        • Preserves and protects patient rights to confidentiality
        • Performs other job-related duties as required or requested.
        • Understand and assist physicians at the FCC with formal definition of application requirements, specifications and workflows to best meet organizational needs. -
        • Analyze operations as they relate to application build decisions for FCC regarding potential system enhancements, and new releases.
        • Perform in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with software at FCC.
        • Working with other Ambulatory Analysts to coordinate software updates and changes following established change control processes and procedures.
        • Troubleshoot issues for FCC and effectively manage through to resolution .
        • Serves as liaison between the IS department and the end user community at FCC, being the key contact for informatics.
        • Works with Application Trainers and participates in end user training events when required for FCC
        • Administers, monitors and maintains a high degree of system and application security and patient privacy.
        • Prepares written documentation, including operational, technical and user information to use in conjunction with the applications.
        • Develops an understanding of other applications to the degree of system and application security and patient privacy.
        • Manages projects as assigned.
        • Performs other job related duties as requested.
        • Demonstrates an ability to work well with employees at all levels across Care New England
