Job Description:
Deliver health with care. About the Position A Registered Nurse
at Lifespan in our Neuro Stroke Unit provides care for General
Neurology, Vascular Neurology, and Neurosurgical patients along
with Internal Medicine patients. In this unit, we provide 24-hour
EEGs to monitor for epilepsy, seizures, and other complex
neurological conditions. As a Med/Surg RN with Lifespan, you will
assess patient conditions, administer medications, change
dressings, monitor vital signs, keep records, and provide patients
with support and education. Due to the nature of the unit, you will
need a diverse and extensive knowledge and skill base within
nursing care in order to meet the needs of your patients that have
a wide variety of neurological medical issues or are recovering
from surgery.

- Provide direct patient care
- Provide leadership by delegating, supervising, and
participating in safe nursing care activities provided by ancillary
personnel
- Evaluate effectiveness of patient care and identify
opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with the healthcare team, patients and their
families, and community services for patient care outcome and
discharge planning
- Assess and provide appropriate education based on the patient
and family needs
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and research
activities
- Utilize all available resources to provide -quality,
cost-effective patient care
- Identify growth needs and participate in educational
opportunities and professional organizations
- Serve as a role model or preceptor to new graduate nurses and
less experienced personnel Key Results
- Show care and compassion for a wide age range and cultural
backgrounds
- Determine priority of care based on physical, psychological,
and social needs as well as other factors influencing patient flow

- Perform focused assessments of chief complaints of each patient
in a timely manner
- Care for the patient from arrival to admission or facilitate

- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Rhode
Island
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred
- NIHSS Certification within 3 months of hire
- Completion of MAECC / AANN Training Program within 1 year of
hire
- Certificate in Seizure and Epilepsy Healthcare Professional in
