• 
  
• Provides direct patient care, assessing and evaluating patient needs, and developing individualized care plans.
  
• Leads and supervises nursing staff, delegating tasks and responsibilities to ensure safe and effective patient care.
  
• Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies opportunities for improvement, participating in quality improvement and research activities.
  
• Collaborates with the healthcare team, patient, and family to achieve quality patient outcomes and discharge planning.
  
• Assesses and provides teaching based on patient and family needs, utilizing all available resources to provide quality, cost-effective patient care.
  
• Meets and maintains clinical competencies, participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations to stay current in the field.
  
• Serves as a role model and preceptor to new graduate nurses and less experienced personnel, assuming charge nurse responsibility as delegated.
  
  BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
  
  • 
    
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred.
    
  • 1 year of medical surgical experience required.
    
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.
    
    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    
    • 
      
    • Visual and aural ability to monitor patient status.
      
    • Physical ability to assist in lifting and positioning patients.
      
    • Exposed to patient care environment.
      
    • Physical ability for extensive walking and standing; lifting positioning and pushing patients on stretchers.
