Description:CareLink is a non-profit, mission-based 501c3 organization that was founded in 1997 by non-profit post-acute and community-based organizations specializing in the care of older adults and adults with disabilities. These organizations include long-term care, housing, hospice, home care, assisted living and adult-day health. In addition, CareLink is a direct provider of a range of health and wellness services including rehabilitation (PT/OT/SLP), mobile dental, audiology, podiatry, psychiatry, brain health and wellness services. We keep individuals doing the things that they want to do, independently, in the place they call home.
We are looking for a full-time (30-40 hours per week) Occupational Therapist to join the team in our Central RI Region, located primarily at Steere House. Occasional coverage outside of this area may be required.

Occupational therapists treat patients with the use of assistive equipment and therapeutic interventions to impact activities of daily living. They help patients develop, improve, and maintain the skills needed for day-to-day life and work. The Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) is responsible for evaluation, design and delivery of prescribed Occupational Therapy programs (within the parameters of training and expertise) to clients and residents of the facility.
Essential Functions:

  • Fulfill all job functions of a staff Occupational Therapist within the clinical scope of practice.
  • Examining and evaluating patients by assessing their movements and function
  • Reviewing patients' medical histories and developing an individualized treatment plan
  • Outlining clear goals for patients and the expected outcomes of the plan
  • Responsible for documentation of these evaluations and treatments, recording patient status, treatment response, changes noted, patient/family education, recommendations and other patient-centered actions taken.
  • Documenting patients' progress and modifying the plan of care if needed
  • Communicating within a multi-disciplinary team who are committed to the patients' well-being
  • Recording patients' progress and modifying the plan of care if needed
  • Educating patients, family members, and caregivers about the recovery process
  • Assists in the implementation of patient treatment, including supervising Occupational Therapy Assistants.
  • Complying with federal, state, and local certification requirements.Administrative and Organizational Duties:
    • Has a working knowledge of job duties and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Incorporates policies and procedures into the daily routine, referring to policies and procedures manual as necessary.
    • Makes recommendations for changes.
    • Independently organizes a schedule that reflects patient care priorities and facility needs and responsibilities.
    • Carries a caseload that reflects the facilities productivity standards.
    • Uses appropriate written communication.
    • Participates in departmental administration.
    • Participates in quality improvement programs.
    • Ensures that equipment is in working condition and meets departmental standards prior to patient's treatment.
    • Reports defective equipment to supervisor promptly.
    • Uses facility equipment and supplies in a cost-effective and respectful manner.
    • Maintains a clean work environment.Professional Behavior:
      • Identifies own learning needs and seeks out educational experiences to meet those needs.
      • Demonstrates appropriate verbal communication.
      • Follows directions given by Program Manager or other supervisors and asks questions at an appropriate time and place.
      • Is receptive to constructive feedback regarding performance.
      • Uses appropriate channels of communication and assumes responsibility for securing a satisfactory response.
      • Disposition, temperament and reactions are consistent with the philosophy that the patient's welfare is the prime objective.
      • A team player that demonstrates a willingness to meet departmental needs, weekend rotation, coverage and schedule changes and site changes when census demands.

          • A Master's, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from a university certified by the ACOTE (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education) or AOTA (American -Occupational Therapy Association).
          • Certified by the National Board for Certification.
          • Valid Occupational Therapist license in the state of RI
          • Must possess a valid and current driver license and auto insurance.
          • Interest in working with all abilities including the intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) population.


            Compensation details: 41-47 Hourly Wage
