IndSPR-Human Resources Job Locations US-VA-Smithfield Your Opportunity The Director of Talent Development heads the entire learning and training department and is responsible for the assessment, identification and coordination of the company's development, learning and training. The Director of Talent Development actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods for enhancing development and learning. The Director of Talent Development is responsible for the creation, implementation, and improvement of all corporate company-wide learning efforts. The performance of the business is highly dependent on the training and support from the department; therefore, the Director monitoring the activities of the department must be highly experienced, motivated, and dedicated to quality learning and training across the company.   • Responsible for all activities of the department and identifies the company's development and learning needs ensuring consistency with core competencies and goals.
  • Partner across functional areas to drive connectivity between development needs and other aspects of the talent lifecycle.
  • Plans, organizes, and leads training programs, ensuring proper execution at all levels of the department and ensures consistency in the delivery and application of training standards across the company while overseeing the planning, prioritization, and development of new training programs and initiatives.
  • Conducts analyses to identify and define present and future training needs. Steers follow-up studies on all completed training programs to evaluate and measure results and draw reports for senior HR management and key stakeholders.
  • Monitors and communicates all training results with various levels of the organization to identify development and training gaps as well as providing recommendations to enhance the training strategy to achieve desired results.
  • Plays a strategic role for approving and developing effective training programs and materials, making regular modifications to programs where necessary. Is a strategic advisor in the development and documentation of the training path for key positions within the business.
  • Conducts research, approves, and makes further recommendations for appropriate learning management systems and databases.
  • Collaborates with other human resources departmental directors in defining strategies as well as other departmental heads and managers ensuring proper execution of ongoing training programs to achieve the desired results and ultimately improve the overall performance of the company.
  • Stays abreast with the latest instructional technologies through the establishment of personal networks, attendance of workshops, reviewing of professional publications, and participation in professional industry associations. Introduce the latest and most applicable trends in learning and training to maintain and update training programs within the Company. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Training & Development, Education, Human Resources, Psychology, Business or relevant field and 10+ years of relevant experience, required.
    • Master's Degree, preferred.
    • Minimum 5+ years' experience in team development and/or management, required.--
    • Proven experience in training and development in a manufacturing environment, required.
    • Experience with learning management systems, required.
    • Able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities with an ability to influence a cross-functional team and top management into following a particular of course action.
    • Must demonstrate experience in content creation, maintenance of training processes, and the successful development of ongoing training and development programs.
    • Proven experience and demonstrated ability to apply a structured approach and methodology to learning and training programs.
    • Practiced thought leader in learning and training in how to add value toward the continuous improvement of the organization.
    • Communication skills are a must have for this position, both in written and in verbal form. Communication skills will also be a necessity in enabling efficient and effective cross-functional/collaborative communications and the proper execution of training programs in departments across the company.
    • Ability and passion to create training materials and reports, which must be clear, concise, and understandable.
    • Highly proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint, necessary for the creation of visually and verbally engaging training materials and reports for senior training and development management and key stakeholders.
    • Must possess strong analytical skills as well as a demonstrated passion for research, data analysis, and the insights that are derived from it.
    • Must have an ability to prioritize tasks completing multiple tasks in a timely manner, be flexible and welcoming to change, have an ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision, and be self-motivated.
    • Must be a prompt decision maker, be a strategic and creative thinker, have excellent problem-solving skills, have a positive and easy-going attitude, demonstrate strong work ethic and integrity, and demonstrate calmness and composure in times of uncertainty.
    • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
    • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
    • Up to 40% travel may be required. Supervisory Responsibilities
      • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
      • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
