The Director of Program Development and Innovation is a unique role responsible for identifying, analyzing and leading the process for all grant opportunities for to further the agency’s mission, strategic and operational plans- paired with- leading the implementation of agency’s Innovation Lab. The ideal candidate for this important function is an independent leader, with strong project management skills, who understands the importance of collaboration. It will be important that the director have a sense of curiosity, strong organizational skills and a heightened sense of accountability, particularly as it relates to deadlines and communication.. Essential functions related to Program Development:. 1. Under the direction of the Chief of Philanthropy, identifies and analyzes opportunities for new funding from all sources, including funding opportunities to the agency’s mission, strategic and operational plans.. 2. Responsible for gathering data and information from agency staff to successfully complete applications. At times deadlines happen quickly, resulting in the director pursuing necessary documentation. It is important for the director to understand the stakeholders and associated hierarchy of staff to successfully obtain the necessary information.. 3. Work with the Chief and delegated agency leaders to assess program and agency needs, and identify resources to support said needs. The director must have the ability to discern needs from wants and prioritize the funding efforts according to the direction of the Chief of Philanthropy.. 4. Lead teams of agency staff, consultants, and community collaborators, as appropriate, to develop program approaches and funding applications. The director will use their advanced organizational skills to acts as a project manager throughout the process, keeping all involved in the application process informed with clear direction on their involvement.. 5. Gathers input from stakeholders, researches and recommends funding opportunities that correspond with the clients demographics, ensuring diverse programming opportunities.. 6. Assure that revenue is generated for agency programs and services through well-researched, clearly written and documented fund-raising proposals.. 7. Responsible for timely submission of grant reports required by funding sources. It is expected that the director understands the importance and connection to the timeliness of submitting grants. The director will keep in continuous contact with constituents as the deadlines near, keeping all abreast of the current status of the processes.. 8. Responsible for maintaining and keeping a calendar of timely filing of continuation applications required by funding sources. The director is the primary holder of the calendar and responsible for all deadlines associated with continued application deadlines.. 9. Identify opportunities to improve and maintain the record keeping of all past and future funding opportunities.. 10. Design, draft and compile the complete monthly grant reports for the Board of Directors according to the deadlines outlined by the Chief of Philanthropy.. 11. Analyze the effectiveness of the grant writing efforts, and develop strategies to improve on the agency’s successful submission of applications.. 12. Develop, with input from team members, annual PQI goals and quarterly PQI reports.. 13. Produce reports as requested for the Development Committee, Senior Administration Team, and President and CEO.. Essential functions related to Innovation:. 14. Under the direction of the Chief of Philanthropy and with input from the Office of Innovation, leads the implementation of agency’s Innovation Lab. It is expected that the director will use their strong influence skills to finds ways to engage teams across agency in a collaborative process.. 15. Advocates for and fosters a culture of both big innovations (new processes and procedures, programs, policies, etc.) and smaller innovations that make work smoother, improves relationships, promotes efficiencies, etc.. 16. Responsible for gathering, analyzing and disseminates feedback, data and research in a way that is easy to understand according to the varying audiences.. 17. Under the direction of the Chief of Philanthropy and with input from the Office of Innovation, develops program improvement and innovation strategies; and works with teams to implement and accomplish those goals.. 18. Responsible for working across teams from a seamless, family-centered, “services-not-programs” model.. 19. Researches, identifies and secures grant funding opportunities to support Innovation Lab projects and activities.. Qualifications:. • Bachelor's Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred, preferably in Social Work or a closely related field.. • 5 years’ experience in child and family serving programs.. • Proven track record in grant writing, program development, and contract compliance.. • Proficient in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data in a timely fashion.. • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate with agency staff, potential donors and vendors clearly and respectfully, both in writing and verbally.. • Professional presence and influencing skills are a must.. • Project management experience is required.. • Experience researching funding opportunities is a plus.. • Able to work efficiently and independently.. • Business acumen with finances as it relates to program and agency operations.. • Able to utilize evidence-based practices and research in developing and supporting program design.. • Attention to detail oriented and strong organizational skills is required.. • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word, and able to effectively utilize the Internet for research.. • The successful candidate will be required to meet our pre-employment background screening requirements..
