GZA is looking for an Environmental Permitting Specialist /
Ecologist to work in our Providence, Rhode Island office. Qualified
candidates must have ecological and project permitting experience
at the federal, state, and local levels. The candidate should have
a minimum of 7 years of experience and be able to effectively
conduct and coordinate field work; direct and support other
technical staff; interact with regulatory agencies, clients,
stakeholders and contractors; develop new work and prepare project
proposals; and manage project budgets, invoicing and schedules.
Prior experience with performing freshwater wetlands and coastal
resource delineation and assessments and ecological and endangered
species evaluations is preferred. In addition, the candidate must
demonstrate experience working with regulatory agencies and
preparing associated environmental permit documents. A good working
knowledge of the following regulatory agencies/programs: Federal -
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sections 404/10, United States
Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission (FERC), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); Rhode
Island Department of Environmental Management's (RIDEM's) Office of
Water Resources (OWR), Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management
Council (CRMC), and Massachusetts Environmental Protection Act
(MEPA) is essential.
Key Responsibilities :
Coordinating project tasks and permit preparation to meet client
deadlines. Managing projects and project teams, delegating to
office and field staff, and executing day to day activities of
Assisting with leadership aspects for growth of Ecological Services
in southern New England.
Conducting wetland delineations and assessments in coastal and
Monitoring team performance for compliance with contractual
agreements and budgets.
Expand Client base and provide business development support.
Preparing project budgets and proposals with Principal guidance and
review. Managing project contracts and finances (including terms of
agreement, changes in scope, billings and collection
Regulatory interpretation for project design and permitting pathway
Bachelor's Degree in Biology/Ecology, Environmental Science, or
related discipline (Master's Degree preferred). Minimum of 7 years'
experience in environmental consulting services, including
experience with natural resource evaluations, local, state and
federal permitting, environmental monitoring, wetland delineations,
biological assessments and SWPPP inspections.
Work Experience in RI, MA and CT is preferred.
Experience with erosion and sedimentation control applications,
invasive species control, and OSHA 10-hour construction safety
training or 40- hour OSHA HAZWOPER training are a plus.
Must possess excellent field skills, experience on active
construction sites, and ability to document methods and results.
