Job Description:
Primary Function
The Compliance Specialist serves as a resource providing guidance
and oversight related to the fiscal, administrative, and regulatory
management of grants, contracts, clinical trials, and sponsored
programs during the grant life cycle. This position works closely
with internal and external stakeholders to provide training,
post-payment reviews, federal reporting, and compliance
recommendations for managing grants and contracts.
The successful applicant must function well in a high work-load
environment requiring prioritizing and meeting deadlines; must take
initiative, exercising independent judgment and discretion; must be
detail-oriented; and must be able to communicate effectively, both
orally and in writing. Further duties and responsibilities may be
assigned based on the needs and goals of the department and CNE
system.
Responsibilities
30%: Federal Effort and Compliance Reporting (including, but not
limited to, Effort Certification Reporting, Sub-recipient
monitoring, FFATA, Uniform Guidance, patent reporting, annual asset
review)
30%: Fiscal, Documentation & Retention Reviews (including, but not
limited to, post-payment reviews, asset tagging, financial
activity, review of compliance with award terms and conditions,
cost principles, and applicable regulations, proper documentation
and retention per federal, state, CNE policies)
20%: Training and Information (including, but not limited to,
providing orientation, training, and assistance to CNE community,
content updates for website and updating grant manuals,
grants-related forms, and other grants management tools.
20%: Policy and Procedure (Creates, collaborates and reviews
future/current grants management and compliance procedures and
recommend improvements and documents procedure to ensure compliance
with federal and state laws)
Job Qualifications and Specifications
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience in research, clinical trial, or hospital
administration.
Experience in compliance, audit, accounting and/or sponsored
programs
Experience using research administration systems, including, but
not limited to, federal government portals such as Payment
Management System, iEdison, eRA Commons, Award Cash Management
$ervice, Research.gov.
Experience facilitating interdisciplinary teamwork.
Evidence of ability to work independently.
Evidence of problem-solving skills.
Evidence of the ability to take initiative.
