With more than 25 years in education, the Met has expanded to a network of six small high schools throughout the state of Rhode Island. The Met empowers its students to take charge of their learning, become responsible citizens and life-long learners. Met milestones include internships, individual learning plans, advisories, and a breakthrough college transition program._

*Position* : Substitute Teacher (Per Diem)
*Reports To: *Building Principal (or assigned supervisor)
*Location: *Across Campuses
*Daily Rate: *$200 per day
*Start Date: * Immediately

*Position Overview: *
The Met High School seeks to hire an energetic Substitute Per Diem Teacher(s).The Met is a network of six small, public high schools located in Providence and Newport, Rhode Island. With high standards and strong family engagement, the Met's individualized learning approach has proven successful in unlocking students' passion for learning. The Met empowers its students to take charge of their learning, to become responsible citizens and life-long learners. The hallmarks of a Met education include internships, individual learning plans, advisory, and a breakthrough college transition program.

The successful candidate must have strong content knowledge while also seeking opportunities to make meaningful cross-curriculum connections for all students. Teachers develop and enact well-developed repertoires of effective instructional strategies including developing students across different content areas. Effective teachers intentionally plan for differentiation and scaffolding to provide equity and access to the schools curriculum frameworks. Delivering high academic achievement for all is essential.

*Essential Duties & Responsibilities: *
--- The Substitute Teacher (Per Diem) will provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure the success for every student

--- Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives

--- Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings
--- Hold the advisory's established personalized, rigorous, socially engaging environment
--- Communicate and interact with students and staff
--- Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities
--- Support and nurture the academic, social-emotional,and physical needs of students
--- Advisor, mentor, and model appropriate habits of mind and deed with and for students while using best practices in teaching
--- Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations
--- Adapts and scaffolds teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests
--- Takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
--- Establishes and maintains safety standards of student behavior needed to achieve a positive learning environment in the classroom
--- Completion of the new hire compliance training prior to your first day of employment

--- Commit to work at least 3, 6 hour days per week
--- Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the building principal or his/her/ their designee with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgment; work is reviewed usually upon completion for conformance to established policies, rules, regulations, and procedures

*Required Qualifications & Skills: *
--- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
--- Must be a person of professional and personal integrity
--- Is consistent and reliable
--- Is self-reflective and student-centered in problem solving approach
--- Experience with collaborative groups and processes in a student-centered environment
--- A high degree of patience and tact in dealing with the general public, parents, teachers, administrators, prospective teachers and other personnel
--- Enjoys making a positive difference with children
--- Experience working with children with various exceptionalities preferred
--- Organizational skills including developing an effective classroom schedule for teaching, learning, assessing, etc.
--- Proficient technological skills for remote learning and day-to-day tasks such as but not limited to Zoom, Google Classroom, etc

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $200.00 per day
