Job Description:

Job Title: Shipper and Receiver Job Location: Franklin, MA Reports to: Operations Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Schedule: Regular Full time Hours: Monday through Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm Summary: Manages all aspects of traffic control for both inbound and outbound merchandise. Supervises all matters related to warehouse shipping/receiving and inventory controls Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Responsibilities include assembling, addressing, stamping and shipping merchandise or material; receiving unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise or material; and arranging for transportation of product. Essential Functions: Shipping: --- Unload incoming freight/load outgoing freight --- Perform final assembly details- i.e. Moggies, calibration scales, bulkheads, loose accessories, cleaning and bagging for single use products --- Arrange and coordinate all incoming and outgoing transportation --- Effective use of online systems through logistics online --- Evaluate and select suitable route and method of transport to minimize delivery costs and maximize customer satisfaction --- Examine claims for loss or damage and approve for processing --- Recommends shipping containers and method of packing --- Process all shipments and shop packets (on WISE system) --- Assemble skids --- Control packaging material stock --- Prepare Bills of Lading both manual and on computer --- Oversee maintenance of forklift trucks and order picker --- Maintain clean orderly shipping and receiving as well as outbound staging area --- Makes and receives phone calls and interacts with internal and external customers/vendors/carriers, etc. --- Exercises discretion and skill in the proper packing and skidding of product to ensure quality and safety of shipment to customer Receiving: --- Ensures that material is received, stored and shipped according to customer needs --- Receives goods to purchase order and delivers to stockroom or other departments as indicated; provides visual inspection of all materials for quality/quantity issues --- Receives returned goods consistent with safety procedures --- Maintains shipping and receiving documentation; generates appropriate export documentation. Efficiently operates automated shipping manifest system. --- Operates a forklift, order picker and other power equipment safely and efficiently as required --- Cleans tanks prior to production --- Maintain Kan Ban system --- Issue parts from stockroom and monitor stock levels --- Data entry into WISE system of daily stock inventory --- Effectively collaborates with Accounting, Production and Customer Service departments --- Diligently observes all safety procedures and wears personal protective equipment (PPE) --- Performs other activities as may be required and agreed upon from time to time Qualifications: Solid organizational skills Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work under pressure Motivated and self-starter Strong knowledge of state and federal transportation rules/regulations Ability to plan and implement processes Patience and good follow through Competent with high school math Ability to operate fork lift and order picker Moderate skills with hand tools Literate in English Education: High school diploma or GED Experience: Minimum 2 years as shipper receiver Computer Skills: Strong computer skills- including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook and database/inventory and ability to learn WISE system Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. It is a production environment where there are multiple projects in various stages of completion being worked on simultaneously. Operation of machines, fork lift trucks, order pickers and other equipment/hand tools are in constant use.
