Job Description:

The Sr Perioperative Analyst Specialist who reports to the VP of Perioperative Services. This person functions under general supervision and within Lifespan established policies and procedures provides health data analytic and measurement support for perioperative services at Rhode Island Hospital and provides data framework for System Perioperative analytics and data. Uses and shares data to support the performance improvement agenda of the perioperative services division and identifies opportunities and key objectives aimed at improving outcomes utilization access efficiency and other actionable objectives. Provides support and leadership for Lifespan---s Quality Priorities service and treatment settings. Responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaborates with information services vendors department directors/managers frontline staff and outside organizations on obtaining accurate reliable and timely data supporting performance improvement activities.
Identifies collects and analyzes data specific to the perioperative service line(s) and workstreams. Interfaces with the EHR data sets and databases such as (but not limited to) Vizient CDB/RM Procedural Analytics (PA) EPIC Analytics etc. to either submit data and/or download data for internal reporting. Uses collected data to define and measure quality processes identify variation from accepted standards of practice and define patterns and trends. Facilitate appropriate intervention and follow-up to include documentation and monitoring of corrective action plans developed in answer to quality-compromised issues. Align data collection to accurately measure process steps (under investigation) for improving perioperative quality program initiatives. Monitor quality improvement programs and act as a resource on quality metrics and performance measurement for perioperative services and the organization.
-Performs rigorous data analysis shares and packages data to leadership team using graphical platforms dashboards scorecards and reports. Identifies trends and opportunities through benchmarking activities and monitors overall performance on measures of utilization access throughput and other elements of quality and program effectiveness.Trains and educates staff on new initiatives necessary software usage and data collection processes. Designs and creates manuals for training.
Collaborates with Lifespan---s quality and safety infrastructures and Information Services to integrate and share data as needed in support of organizational priorities and performance objectives. Identifies and presents best practices and other tactics needed to improve performance. Presents educates frontline staff and other key stake holders on tactics and execution. Documents monitors and measures the effectiveness of perioperative quality programs as directed. Monitors and makes suggestions to improve best practices and their integration into existing systems Responsible for creating professional reports and presentations that provide quality information throughout the organization.
Ensures data integrity consistency and accuracy through creation and implementation of data handling protocols/policies.Oversees the audit process to ensure data integrity. Serves as a resource for all staff on reporting and key operational metrics. Utilizes powerful analytic and graphical data visualization systems such as PowerBI and tools available through the electronic health record for surveillance monitoring and trending overall performance metrics. Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Bachelor---s Degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related Healthcare Field (with associated technical experience) is required; Master---s degree is preferred. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office i.e. Word Excel Access PowerPoint; Minitab PowerBI as well as other electronic health record and computer applications are required. Proficient skills in SQL database management and custom reporting tools. Advanced data display skills are required for analysis and graphing. Three to five years of related experience is required.Prefer PeriOperative knowledge. Require eagerness and willingness to learn and be submersed in subject matter.EXPERIENCE:Expertise in analysis; should have the ability to understand manipulate and utilize large complex data sets for analytical use.Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification preferredKnowledge of key performance measures and outcomes in health care.Strong interpersonal written and verbal skills; must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and physician leaders.
Exceptional organizational skills: ability to multi-task prioritize workload and respond to urgent requests as needed; must be able to manage their time efficiently and meet required deadlines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Work is performed in a typical office setting requiring extensive periods of sitting with arms extended as well as walking and standing.
Will work with the PeriOperative setting and may be required to be present in the clinical settings from time to time.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:Performs independently within the department policies and procedures; refers specific problems to the Director where clarification of departmental policies and procedures or workload may be required.
