one or more metal-grinding machines, such as external, surface, and
centerless grinders, including but not limited to Thru feed and In
feed centerless grinders, Glebar, Royal Masters, CNC and Pointing
grinders. Grind external cylindrical or tapered surfaces of
workpieces to blueprint specifications, following tooling
instructions and standard charts, and applying knowledge of
grinding procedures, in order to manufacture small diameter, close
tolerance parts, including pointed parts. Operate secondary
equipment and perform any other functions within the QWT Business
Cell that may be necessary.Role and Responsibilities Fully
participate as a Team Member of the QWT Business segment supporting
personal and team member growth along with the needs of the
Franklin Site Run machines, achieving print specifications
including quality and throughput. Implement continuous improvement
activities. Perform JobBOSS transactions. Perform required daily
maintenance to equipment and tools. Maintain a clean and safe work
environment. Work from established procedures and prescribed
operation sequences to achieve parts per print and quality
specifications. Read blueprint and job order for product
specifications and tooling instructions, like dimensions,
tolerances, number of parts to be ground, speeds, feed rates,
holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used. Mount grinding
wheel and regulating wheel on spindles with wrenches. May dress
wheels to specifications, using dressing devices. Start machine and
observe operation. Verify dimensions of ground workpiece for
conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as
micrometers, calipers, and pre-set gauges. May change worn grinding
wheels, using wrenches. Feed machine by hand or set up automatic
work-feeding device. Communicate with co-workers, members of other
shifts, technical leader, team leader and/or supervisor to transfer
and receive instructions and information as well as coordinate
activities regarding the status of the operation of particular
jobs. Perform 1st piece and In-process inspections for self or
peers. Simultaneous to grinding operation, perform a variety of
secondary operations as required. Follow written and verbal
instructions to maintain high standard of quality. Expected to
maintain specifications as defined on drawing and/or
routing.Qualifications and Education RequirementsHigh School
Diploma or equivalent. Prior manufacturing experience desired.
Ability to read blue prints, drawings, and specifications. Must
have very strong oral and written communication skills and be able
to follow written and verbal instructions. Mathematical and
mechanical aptitude. Ability to meet deadlines. Good manual
dexterity and ability to use measurement and inspection tools like
micrometers, microscope, etc. Good work habits, strong workmanship
and a positive attitude are required.Preferred SkillsExperience in
medical device manufacturing (ISO 13485), aerospace, machinery, or
metals desired. QWT Operations will focus on the flexibility of its
team members having the ability to become proficient in their
primary role (this role) while training to become knowledgeable in
other QWT ops rolesexamples are all types of grinding (CNC TF and
IF with the new Micron machines, and Specialty CNC via the Glebar)
Cut Off (ECC, TAK, AbrasCO), Bench Grind, In-Process and Final
Cleaning, and Material Handling/Shipping.This role will rotate into
the other QWT Operations listed in the above paragraph as needed
based on customer priorities, work center load and capacity, and
staffing (for example coverage for other team members when on
vacation.) The Team members do not need to be experts or set-up
techs in all areas yet rather have the ability to train and learn
how to manufacture parts in one or two additional operations. This
may include working shifts or overtime in the Production side of
the business as needed - as 16 Forge Park and 9 Forge Park together
comprise the Tegra Medical Franklin Business.The goal of the QWT
Technician roles is to have its team members not only learn
multiple processes to manufacture parts yet also learn how to
measure parts against specifications to determine acceptable parts
(good) versus scrap parts (bad) including visual criteria.
Technician Team Members will learn how to make process and machine
adjustments as needed in the different operations to manufacture
parts of acceptable quality.The Team will work towards goals of
reducing lead times, training members to multiple work operations,
and shipping in spec product on or before the promised ship date.
There will be team meetings focused on priorities, expedites,
equipment status, quality, and review of acceptable and scrap parts
to enhance learning. Technicians will have the opportunity to
interact directly with Technical Sales, Planning, and Quality and
Manufacturing Engineering.If you want to be challenged, gain
